In the title match, Australia bowled out Rohit Sharma’s team for 240 while India were batting first. And then thanks to opener Travis Head and middle order batsmen. He faced 120 balls and hit 15 fours and 4 sixes during his innings while Labuschagne remained unbeaten on 58 and Glenn Maxwell remained unbeaten on 2 runs.
Australia’s wrist spinner Adam Zampa also achieved an important feat during the final match. In the final he took one wicket for 44 runs in 10 overs. This was his 23rd wicket in this tournament. With this, he equaled Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan’s record. Till now, Murali held the record for taking most wickets as a spinner in a single World Cup. The Sri Lankan off-spinner took 23 wickets in the World Cup 2007. Now along with Murali, Jampa has also written his name on this record.

Shami had 23 wickets and Zampa had 22 wickets till the final. Both the bowlers claimed one wicket each in the final, taking their tally to 24 and 23 respectively. Shami (Mohammed Shami) was the highest wicket-taker in World Cup 2023.
