Major Coast Guard operation in Gujarat, Pakistani boat seized with drugs worth Rs 600 crore; Arrest of 14

The Indian Coast Guard on Sunday achieved a major breakthrough in a joint operation with Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and Narcotics Control Bureau of India (NCB). The team intercepted a suspicious Pakistani boat off the coast of Gujarat. The boat had about 86 kg of drugs worth Rs 600 crore. 14 crew members of the Pakistani boat have also been taken into custody. Acting on information, the Coast Guard has initiated action against drug trafficking syndicates operating in the area.

The Indian Coast Guard posted on the social media platform that a Pakistani boat was intercepted in the Arabian Sea west of Porbandar. 86 kg of drugs have been recovered from this boat. Its price in the international market is Rs 600 crore. 14 Pakistani crew members have also been detained from the boat.

The agency also deployed ships and aircraft to ensure operational efficiency. One of the main vessels involved in this operation was the Coast Guard vessel ‘Rajaratan’. Officials of both NCB and ATS were present in it. The team is currently conducting an intensive search of the ship.

In a statement, the Coast Guard said, “No boat loaded with drugs will escape from the mighty ‘Rajaratan’. After thorough investigation, the expert team has confirmed the presence of large quantities of narcotics on the suspected boat. The boat is now being brought to Porbandar for further investigation. .

Earlier on Sunday morning, in a separate operation, the NCBA, along with the ATS, collected Rs. 300 crore drug manufacturing gang was exposed. Since the beginning of March in Gujarat and Rajasthan, the total amount of drugs, liquor, precious metals, freebies and Rs. 932.41 crore in illegal cash has been seized.
