Mumbai. TV actress Chhavi Mittal has always been open about her battle with cancer. In April 2022, she revealed that she had been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. She underwent a six-hour long surgery and later won the battle against cancer. In the latest episode of News18 Shosha’s show ‘Love Hua’, Chhavi and her husband Mohit Hussain talked about the difficult phase in their lives and revealed that Chhavi was the first to know about it.
Chhavi Mittal said, “I came to know about this first because I was in touch with the doctor. So he called me first. I told him (Mohit Hussain) that the report has come and it doesn’t look good. He looked at me and said, ‘OK, we’ll deal with it’.”
Chhavi Mittal said her husband understood the situation, but it was not easy to tell this to their daughter Ariza, who was only 9 at the time. Chahvi said that when her daughter was diagnosed with cancer, she thought her mother would die. But she explained to her daughter that cancer is not the same for everyone.
Chhavi Mittal said, “I spoke to Ariza. I sat down with her and told her, ‘Your mother is sick and needs to go to the hospital for a few days. He will return home in good health. She suddenly started crying and said, ‘Mommy, do you have it?’ I knew she was talking about cancer. I said yes’. I lost my grandmother to cancer.
Chhavi Mittal said, “Ariza knows this. He thought I was going to die. All he knows about cancer is that people die from it. He said, ‘Can’t you swallow food? Are you going to die?’ I said, ‘No, not like that. Cancer can be different for different people. This is very different for me. For me, it’s just a small thing, they will do surgery and fix it.
