It is known that among the Gujarati Patidar community, girls take the wedding procession to the groom’s house on horseback or cart. A unique procession that took place in Burhanpur city on Sunday evening was also like this. The bride, riding on a cart, wearing dark glasses, left with the wedding procession to marry the groom. The video of the bride’s entry into the wedding hall is doing the rounds on social media.
To honor the daughters of the Sakal Panch Gujarati Modha Vanik Samaj and Patidar Samaj in the city, it is a tradition to bring the bride in the wedding procession instead of the groom being mounted on a horse. The tradition was on the verge of being discontinued for several decades, but it is said that when a new generation of girls learned about the tradition, they persuaded their parents and spouses to start it again. Now in this wedding season, bridegrooms are seen on chariots in wedding processions on the streets of Burhanpur.
Let us tell you that in Patidar society and Gujarati society, there is a tradition of taking out the wedding procession by placing the bride on a horse. Which is known as Kanya Ghatdi tradition. In this, the girl rides a horse as a bride and goes to her future husband’s house as a wedding procession, inviting him to come to her house to get married. Although this tradition almost stopped but the new generation has started it again. Now brides are seeing a lot of banging entries.
