NDTV Opinion Poll: Will Bhupesh Baghel return to CM post in Chhattisgarh or will BJP flourish?

Assembly elections of five states including Chhattisgarh (Chhattisgarh Assembly Election 2023) are being seen as the semi-finals of Lok Sabha Election 2024 to be held in 2024. If we talk about Chhattisgarh, there is a war between Congress and BJP. To know the mood of the public and their opinions on various issues ahead of the elections, NDTV has conducted an opinion survey in collaboration with CSDS and Lok Niti.

If we talk about the work of last five years in Chhattisgarh, about 75 percent people are satisfied with the work of Bhupesh Baghel government. 34% of those surveyed said they were completely satisfied with the performance of the Baghel government, while 45% were somewhat satisfied.

Can Baghel become CM again?
Do the people of Chhattisgarh want to see Bhupesh Baghel back in the Chief Minister’s chair? In response to this question asked in the survey, 39 percent people went with Bhupesh Baghel. 24 percent people supported the name of BJP leader Raman Singh. People were also asked questions about senior BJP leader and state president Brijmohan Agarwal. 8 percent people want to see him on the Chief Minister’s chair. Talking about another big Congress leader, TS Singh Dev, only 4 percent said he should be on the Chief Minister’s chair.

BJP has not announced the Chief Ministerial candidate. In such a situation, another question was asked to the people there whether they want to see any other leader from BJP on the Chief Minister’s chair. In response to this, 7 percent answered ‘yes’.

Unemployment and inflation are the biggest election issues
Like Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, unemployment and inflation are the biggest electoral issues for the people of Chhattisgarh. 28 percent said unemployment and 14 percent said inflation was the biggest problem. 12 percent cited poverty, 8 percent drinking water, 6 percent lack of development, 6 percent unhappy farmers and 26 percent other issues as election issues.

How is the job of the government in terms of providing employment?
How did Chhattisgarh government work to provide employment? In response to this question, 40 percent said that unemployment has increased in the last five years, while 20 percent said that unemployment has decreased. Apart from this, 35 percent people believe that the unemployment situation in the state is the same as before.

Chhattisgarh will vote in two phases. Voting will be held in the first phase on November 7 and in the second phase on November 17. For this survey, questions were asked to 2541 people from 25 assembly constituencies between October 24-30.
