After 12 years, Indian team’s dream of winning the World Cup was dashed after miserably defeating the opposition teams in all the 9 league matches of the ICC World Cup 2023 and then in the semi-finals. Crores of Indian fans along with Team India are feeling the pain of this dream being left unfulfilled.
There is no doubt that the Indian team could not perform against the Kangaroos in the title clash as they have done in the last ten matches. The Indian team completely failed to make an effective strategy with batting, bowling and fielding. The Australian team, which won the World Cup trophy for the sixth time, defeated India in every field. In the same World Cup, the Australian team, which faced a crushing defeat in the league match against India, learned from past mistakes and made a competent and successful strategy for the final match. The Australian players bowled accurately with top class fielding. After this, Travis Head’s century and Marnus Labusch’s unbeaten half-century helped Australia win the World Cup once again after 2015. Australia also won the World Cup in 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2015.
The regret and disappointment of not winning the World Cup was visible on the faces of all the Indian players. Captain Rohit Sharma and Mohammad Siraj’s eyes filled with tears.
