Nitish Kumar made a big announcement in the Assembly, proposing to increase the coverage of reservation from 50% to 65% in Bihar.

According to this proposal, the existing 16 percent reservation for Scheduled Castes (SC) will be increased to 20 percent.
Scheduled Tribe (ST) will be increased from 1 percent to 2 percent. 43 percent reservation will be given to Extremely Backward Classes (EBC) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) together. Earlier there was a provision of 3 percent reservation for women, which has now been abolished.
