“No BJP candidate was scouted”: P Chidambaram alleges misuse of agencies

New Delhi:

Senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram on Saturday accused the BJP-led Center of misusing investigative agencies during the elections. Citing the example of Telangana, he said that at least four of his party’s candidates were summoned or had their homes searched during election campaigning. Investigation agencies have not traced any BJP candidate.

Chidambaram quipped, “It is clear that all the BJP candidates have been chosen by the gods and have divine blessings.” In a post on Twitter, the former Union minister said that at least four Congress candidates in the Telangana elections were called by investigative agencies or had their seats probed in the middle of election campaigning.

“One of them was the chairman of the BJP’s manifesto committee and resigned from the BJP on November 1,” he claimed. “As per my knowledge, the agencies have not scouted any BJP candidate.”

Chidambaram said that in fact, if the BJP is elected, the party will take the people of Telangana straight to heaven. The misuse of investigative agencies is so obvious that it does not require any discussion in court. Assembly elections in Telangana will be held on November 30 and the results will be declared on December 3.
