Tata Group will now manufacture iPhone (Apple Iphone) in India. Deal to acquire Wistron factory with Tata Group approved. Electronics and Technology Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar gave this information on social media on Friday. The minister said that Tata Group will start manufacturing Apple iPhone in India for domestic and global markets in two and a half years.

The Wistron factory is valued at approximately $600 million. Talks about this deal were going on for almost a year. This factory is known for manufacturing the iPhone 14 model. More than 10,000 people work in this factory.

Why was Wistron sold?
If reports are to be believed, Wistron is hurting. Because under Apple’s terms the company is facing losses. Wistron says Apple is charging higher margins than Foxconn and Pegatron. At the same time, India has various challenges compared to China, making it difficult to work with employees in India. In such a situation, Wistron is going to sell its company.

Wistron entered the Indian market in 2008, when the company offered repair facilities for several devices. After this, in 2017, the company expanded its operations and started manufacturing iPhones for Apple.
