Bangladesh beat New Zealand by five wickets in the first T20 International on Wednesday thanks to opening batsman Liton Das’ valiant innings of 42 not out.
Bangladesh bowled out New Zealand for 98 runs in the third ODI on Saturday to record their first win in limited-overs cricket in the country. Four days later, Bangladesh created history for the first time by defeating the Kiwi team at home in a T20I. Before this win, Bangladesh played 18 T20 matches in New Zealand but lost all of them.
Took three wickets in nine balls and restricted New Zealand to 134 for 9. Jimmy Neesham top scored for New Zealand with 48 runs while skipper Mitchell Santner contributed 23 runs. For Bangladesh, Shoriful Islam took three wickets while Mustafizur Rahman and Mehdi Hassan took two wickets each.
In reply, Bangladesh won by 137 for five in 18.4 overs to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Liton Das hit two fours and a six in a 36-ball innings. Mehdi Hasan supported him well by scoring 19 not out in the last overs.
