Pakistan bowling coach Morne Morkel blamed the bowlers for the ODI World Cup defeats against India and Australia, saying their bowling lacked consistency and failed to put pressure on the opposition batsmen. Shaheen Shah Afridi found his rhythm with a five-wicket haul against Australia but Haris Rauf and Hasan Ali were easily bowled by David Warner and Mitchell Marsh.

Morkel said after the match, “One of our topics of discussion in the last two matches has been the bowling partnership. I believe this is very important in India. It is very important to build pressure from both ends and right now we are not able to do that.

He said, “Our bowling lacks consistency. If you want to lift the World Cup trophy on November 19, the bowlers will have to maintain consistency from both ends.

The former South African fast bowler admitted that the team is missing fast bowler Naseem Shah, who is not playing in the tournament due to injury. “Naseem is a very good bowler and his stats are proof of that,” said Morkel. He has been maintaining a good partnership with Shaheen Shah Afridi since the beginning. We are missing Naseem so much.

Pakistan got a target of 368 runs. Shafiq (64) and Imam-ul-Haq (70) put on 134 runs for the first wicket to give the team a good start. However, in this match played on Friday, the Pakistan team was bowled out for 305 runs. Pakistan’s next match is against Afghanistan.
