After a strong start to the ICC World Cup 2023 with two consecutive wins, Pakistan lost four matches in a row, dashing Pakistan’s hopes of reaching the semi-finals. After this Pakistan won two matches in a row and apart from this some results in the remaining tournament matches made it look like Pakistan would somehow reach the semi-finals. Pakistan’s path to the semi-finals is now looking thorny after New Zealand’s thrashing of Sri Lanka on Thursday. Amidst all this, former Team India cricketer Virender Sehwag has tried to describe Pakistan’s trip to World Cup 2023 in just two tweets. This tweet of Sehwag is going viral on social media. Had Sri Lanka won against New Zealand yesterday, Pakistan would have had to beat England to reach the semi-finals. Now Pakistan need to beat England by at least 287 runs or achieve the target in just three overs to reach the semi-finals.
Virender Sehwag shared a photo that read, ‘Bye-bye Pakistan’, while sharing it, Sehwag wrote, ‘Pakistan Zinda Bhaag! Have a nice journey back home. In another tweet, Sehwag wrote, ‘The special thing about Pakistan is that the team that Pakistan supports also starts playing like Pakistan. Sorry Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka was bowled out for 171 runs in 46.4 overs against New Zealand. New Zealand chased down the target of 172 in 23.2 overs for the loss of five wickets, with their net run rate now looking completely out of Pakistan’s reach. One semi-final match of the ICC World Cup 2023 will be played between South Africa and Australia, while the other match now looks set to be India vs New Zealand. Sehwag also shared a photo of Bye-Bye Pakistan on Instagram and captioned it, ‘Pakistan Live! That was all. We hope you enjoyed our hospitality and biryani.
