Nawaz Sharif’s party said in a statement that former PM Sharif has spent the past several days in Dubai and will travel from there to the capital Islamabad, then to Lahore, where his supporters are expected to gather for a welcome rally.

Let us tell you that after the return of Nawaz Sharif, the police is already on alert regarding his rally. According to Dawn newspaper, after receiving threat information from security agencies, the home department and the police have been alerted to ensure the security of 73-year-old Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Sharif. A senior Home Department official said the officials held a high-level meeting and took the Punjab Police into confidence to make coordinated efforts to ensure the security of three-time prime minister Sharif.

The PML(N) hopes that Sharif’s presence in the country will benefit the party ahead of the general elections in January. Nawaz Sharif is scheduled to address a public meeting at Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore on Saturday evening. Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif’s younger brother Shahbaz Sharif has asked party leaders to give his elder brother a historic welcome.

Under the permission granted by the Lahore District Administration, the PML (N) has to adhere to 39 conditions in this regard, including taking all necessary precautionary measures in and around the venue for the safety of the participants and the general public. The district administration in Lahore had last week given permission to the party for a rally in Minar-e-Pakistan, saying that no speech against constitutional offices/armed forces/judiciary would be given.
