Geneva. Corona virus has once again started to take the world in its grip. However, there has been a slight decrease in cases. The World Health Organization (WHO) said in its latest update that the number of deaths from the virus fell by 8 percent compared to the previous 28-day period, with more than 3,000 new deaths.
The WHO said that the number of new Covid patients has increased by 52 percent during the last four weeks. Amid the rapidly increasing cases of the ‘JN.1’ form of the corona virus, the World Health Organization has called it a ‘variable of interest’. According to the WHO, it now belongs to the BA.2.86 lineage associated with the ‘Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza Data’ (GISAID).
Recently, cases of ‘JN.1’ variant have been reported in many countries and cases of this variant are increasing worldwide. One such case has come up in India as well. According to India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, cases of ‘JN.1’ have been detected in the US, China, Singapore and India. Seven such cases have been reported in China.
