India’s defeat in the World Cup 2023 final left Indian fans and players heartbroken. India entered the final after winning 10 matches in a row, but in the end the victory went to Australia. Many players including captain Rohit Sharma and star batsman Virat Kohli had tears in their eyes after losing the title match. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also came to the stadium to watch this match. After the defeat of the Rohit brigade, PM Modi went to the dressing room and encouraged the Indian players. The Prime Minister consoled Rohit and Kohli by holding their hands.

It is to be noted that in the final, India scored 240 runs in response to which Australia easily won by scoring 241 runs for the loss of four wickets in 43 overs. Travis Head played an innings of 137 runs from Australia. Marnus Labusche scored a half century. PM Modi praised Team India after the defeat and said that the country is with them. Prime Minister Modi wrote on Twitter on Sunday, “Dear Team India, your talent and determination in the World Cup was amazing. You played with great spirit and made the country proud. We stand with you today and always.”
