The Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab led by Bhagwant Mann has given Diwali gifts to the businessmen of the state. The Punjab Cabinet has given the green signal to implement the One Time Settlement Scheme (OTS) for settlement of pre-Goods and Services Tax (GST) dues. This decision was taken in a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann at the Punjab Civil Secretariat on Monday morning. More than 60000 traders will benefit from this scheme.

A spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said that ‘Recovery of Standing Dues Scheme-2023’ has been implemented to settle pre-GST dues. It will reduce the burden of legal matters. The OTS scheme will come into effect from 15 November 2023 and will continue till 15 March 2024. Taxpayers who by March 31, 2023 have paid Rs. 1 crore with tax, penalty and interest amount will be eligible to apply for settlement under the scheme.
OTS will give full discount in case of balance up to Rs 1 lakh
OTS will give full waiver in case of balance up to Rs 1 lakh. Under the scheme, there are 39,787 cases of arrears up to Rs 1 lakh till March 31, 2023. These cases will be fully waived. Similarly, 100 percent interest, 100 percent penalty and 50 percent tax amount will be waived in about 19,361 cases.
The ‘Mukhyamantri Yatradham Yojana’ has also been approved from 27th November
The Cabinet has approved the launch of the ‘Mukhyamantri Tirtha Yatra Yojana’ on the occasion of Shri Guru Nanak Devji’s birth anniversary on November 27, so that the residents of the state can visit various pilgrimage sites across the country free of cost. The means of this journey will be of two types. For long distance religious places the mode of travel will be train and for short distance the mode of travel will be road and bus.
Reports of police department and vigilance bureau are also allowed
At the same time, the Bhagwant Mann Cabinet has approved the Annual Administrative Reports of Police Department and Vigilance Bureau, Punjab for the year 2020 and 2022 respectively. The Annual Administration Reports of Social Security and Women and Child Development for the years 2022-23 and 2019-20 have also been approved.
