In such a situation, Delhi Police on Friday registered an FIR against unknown people in the case of actress Rashmika Mandanna’s deepfake video.
Delhi Police registered an FIR
The Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations Unit of Delhi Police’s Special Cell has booked the accused under sections 465 (punishment for forgery) and 469 (forgery with intent to defame) and the Information Technology Act of the Indian Penal Code. An FIR has been lodged. Registered under section 66C and 66E. The police said that the department has formed a team and started the investigation. Earlier in the day, the Delhi Commission for Women had sent a notice to the city police regarding this video and demanded action against the accused.
Women’s Commission notice to Delhi Police
The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has taken cognizance of media reports of Rashmika Mandanna’s deep fake video going viral on social media platforms. The DCW issued a notice to the Delhi Police in this regard on Friday. According to the notice given by DCW to the Delhi Police, ‘According to the reports received, the actress has also expressed her concern in the matter and said that someone has illegally tampered with her image in the video. The Commission has learned that no one has been arrested in the case so far. This is a very serious matter. ,
Swati Maliwal’s social media post
The Delhi Commission for Women has sought a copy of the FIR registered in the case, details of the accused and action taken in this regard from the police by November 17. DCW president Swati Maliwal said in a post on X, ‘Noticing Rashmika Mandana’s deep fake video created by artificial intelligence, the Delhi Commission for Women has issued a notice to the Delhi Police. No one has been arrested in this case yet. Strict action should be taken against the creator of this fake video.
