Record breaking sale of gold and silver on Dhanteras, 30 thousand crore business across the country

The five-day festival of lights from Dhanteras to Diwali began across the country with enthusiasm and gaiety. According to the estimate of Confederation of All India Traders (CAT), yesterday across the country Rs. More than 50 thousand crores were traded, while in Delhi alone today Rs. 5 thousand crores was traded. Crowds of customers were seen everywhere in the markets.

On Dhanteras, gold and silver worth 30 thousand crore rupees were traded across the country. Vehicles, kitchen appliances, utensils and electronic goods and brooms were also bought in large quantities.

Apart from gold and silver, sales of vehicles and electronics have also increased
CAT National President BC Bharatia and National General Secretary Praveen Khandelwal said that idols or pictures of Shri Ganesh ji, Shri Lakshmi ji, Shri Kuber ji are bought today on the day of Dhanteras. It is also considered auspicious to buy vehicles, gold and silver ornaments, utensils, kitchen appliances, electronic items with a broom on the day of Dhanteras. Apart from this, it is considered auspicious to buy clay lamps, bandhanwars, home and office decoration items, furnishing fabric, Diwali puja materials for lighting lamps during Diwali.

About 27 thousand crores worth of gold items were sold
Pankaj Arora, National President of All India Jewelers and Goldsmiths Federation, said that yesterday around Rs. 30 thousand crore worth of gold, silver and other items were traded, where about Rs. Gold items worth 27 thousand crores were sold. At the same time, silver trade was also around 3 thousand crore rupees. Last year on Dhanteras, this business was approximately 25 thousand crore rupees.

Despite being expensive, gold-silver sales have broken records
Last year gold price was Rs 52000 per 10 grams, while this time it is Rs 62000 per 10 grams. On the other hand, last Diwali, silver was selling at Rs.58000 and now its price is Rs.72000 per kg. According to an estimate, around 41 tonnes of gold and around 400 tonnes of silver ornaments and coins were sold in the country on Dhanteras.

About 800 tons of gold and 4 thousand tons of silver are imported every year.
There are about 4 lakh small and large jewelers in the country, out of which 1 lakh 85 thousand are jewelers registered with the Bureau of Indian Standards and about 2 lakh 25 small jewelers are in areas where the government has not yet implemented BIS. Every year about 800 tons of gold and about 4 thousand tons of silver are imported from abroad.

More excitement was seen in these markets
Praveen Khandelwal said that in Delhi where wholesale markets Chandni Chowk, Dariba Kalan, Maliwada, Sadar Bazar, Naya Bazar are expecting big business. While the retail markets are Kamla Nagar, Ashok Vihar, Model Town, Shalimar Bagh, Pitampura, Rohini, Rajouri Garden, Dwarka, Janakpuri, South Extension, Khan Market, Malviya Nagar, Sarojini Nagar, Greater Kailash, Green Park, Yusuf Sarai, Vasant Rishi. Various retail markets including Kunj, Munirka, Lajpat Nagar, Kalkaji, Preet Vihar, Laxmi Nagar, Jagatpuri, Shahdara and Laxmi Nagar had special sales of goods.
