New Delhi:
Aam Aadmi Party and BJP are at loggerheads over the overview of the Republic Day parade. Delhi government arts, culture and language minister Saurabh Bhardwaj on Friday said the BJP-led central government has decided to celebrate Republic Day to ‘take revenge’ from the ruling Aam Aadmi Party in the national capital and border state. Punjab) overview of Delhi and Punjab for the parade has been rejected. Bharadwaj also said that the Center has not included Delhi’s spectacle in the parade for three years.
According to officials, Delhi’s jhanki got the last place in the Republic Day parade in 2021. Shahjahanabad Redevelopment Project was shown in it. Bhardwaj said that models of city schools and mohalla clinics were to be displayed at Tableau in Delhi this year. The minister said, “Centre rejected national capital Delhi’s vision. Their vision for parades in 2022, 2023 and now again in 2024 was rejected.
He said that the theme of Delhi’s tableau for the Republic Day Parade in 2023 was ‘Women Power’ and the theme of the tableau for 2024 parade was ‘Developed India’. He said, “One cannot say that this is a design competition. The Center gave us some suggestions and we incorporated them (in our Tableau proposal). If he had given us some more suggestions, we would have included them. Our overview will reflect the Schools and Mohalla Clinic model.
Bhardwaj said that it is not just a coincidence that the proposal for a Punjab overview has also been rejected. “The Center is doing this to take revenge from AAP,” he alleged.
80% of elected states are ruled by BJP: Hon
On Wednesday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Ma attacked the Center for not including his state’s tableau in the parade, accusing it of discrimination. He alleged that 80 per cent of the states selected for the overview are BJP-ruled states.
Jakhad accused of politicizing the overview
Opposing this, BJP state unit chief Sunil Jakhar on Thursday accused Mann of politicizing the state’s vision for the Republic Day parade. He alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government had insisted that the tableau had photographs of him and Arvind Kejriwal and that was one of the reasons why he was excluded from the Republic Day parade. Jakhar said, ‘The AAP government was adamant that it should have pictures of Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann, which is not allowed as per protocol. This was one of the reasons for excluding the overview of Punjab.
“…Then I will quit politics”: Hon
A day after being accused of using the state tabloid for his personal campaign, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday challenged BJP state unit chief Sunil Jakhar to quit politics if he proves the allegation. The Chief Minister said that when Jakhar made these allegations at a press conference here on Thursday, he was spouting lies. Mann said, however, that he sympathizes with Jakhad, who recently joined the BJP, and that he “has to read the script given to him.” Speaking to reporters in Ludhiana, Mann said, ‘Jakhar should prove that the pictures of Arvind Kejriwal or Bhagwant Mann were on the tableau. Do they think we’re crazy?’
Man said, ‘If Jakhad proves this, I will quit politics.’
