Mumbai. Actor Pradeep Kumar Films: Pradeep Kumar entered the world of acting at the age of 17. His real name was Sital Batbyal. He acted in Hindi, Bengali and English films. In the year 1947, he made his acting debut with the Bengali film ‘Alaknanda’. Later he shifted to Bombay. He played an important role in the 1952 film Anand Math. The following year, he played the lead role opposite Vyjayanthimala in the film Anarkali with actress Bina Rai and in the 1954 film Naagin. Pradeep played the characters of prince, king and maharaja in many films.

Pradeep Kumar’s charm continued till the 60s. But after a certain age, he played supporting roles. He worked with many big actors including Amitabh Bachchan, Sunny Deol, Jeetendra, Manoj Kumar. Pradeep got a lot of love at the box office. He had millions of fans but his personal life was not at all happy.

Pradeep Kumar’s life was full of sorrows. When Pradeep became paralysed, his four children left him alone. After leaving the children, he was in shock and did not talk to anyone. He has 3 daughters- Bina Banerjee, Meena Chattopadhyay and Reena Kumar and son Debi Prasad Batbyal. When his wife died, he became even more lonely.

A businessman friend gave Pradeep Kumar a place to stay

According to reports, Pradeep Kumar spoke about his pathetic condition in an interview. He said that even after the death of his wife, the children did not come to meet him. After his illness, he had no place to stay. A businessman from Kolkata gave him a flat of his own to live in and kept a boy there to look after him.

Pradeep Kumar died tragically on 27 October 2001. It is his 22nd death anniversary. An actor who played the role of King and Maharaj on the big screen. His last days were spent in poverty. Pradeep Kumar did 8 films with Madhubal and 7 films with Meena Kumari. He acted in many films including ‘Yehudi Ki Ladki’, ‘Bahu-Begum’, ‘Chitralekha’, ‘Bhigi Raat’, ‘Adil-e-Jahangir’, ‘Shirin Farhad’, ‘Raj Haat’, ‘Kranti’.
