Prabhas’ ‘Salar’ is a remake film. This has been confirmed by the director of the film Prashant Neel himself. In fact, when the story of ‘Saalar’ came out, some people on social media started claiming that it was a remake film. He said that the story of this film is taken from the Kannada film ‘Ugram’. However, the makers later denied this. Not only this, the news was dismissed as a rumour. But, now the film’s director Prashant Neel has approved the remake of ‘Salar’.
What did Prashant say?
Despite claiming not to see it as a remake, Prashant has confirmed that ‘Saalar’ is a remake of 2014’s ‘Ugram’. In an interview to Cinema Express, Prashant Neel said, “I thought the theaters would be packed during Ugram. But this did not happen. It was only 20 days after the release of the film and someone leaked the film. I was very sad. My directorial ‘KGF’ turned out to be a superduper hit but I couldn’t go ahead without doing justice to the story of ‘Ugram’.”
‘I don’t see it as a remake’- Prashant
Prashant further said, “Ugram is very close to my heart. I wanted it to reach the heights of ‘KGF’. However, I don’t see it as a remake. As per Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran I have made many changes in it. Some people will say that this is the story of ‘Ugram’ and the style of ‘KGF’. But, I will take it as a compliment as both are my films.
