Washington. The last breath of the great American scientist and industrialist Thomas Alva Edison has been preserved in a test tube at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan, USA. Thomas Alva Edison who brought light to the world is honored all over the world for his invention. He invented many devices in the fields of electrical equipment, communication, sound recording and videography, including the phonograph, motion picture camera and electric light bulb. He also established the first industrial research laboratory.
American industrialist Henry Ford also considered the great inventor Thomas Edison as his role model. It is believed that he asked Edison’s son to save his father’s last breath. Science Alert reports that according to popular belief and museum accounts, in 1931, Ford asked Charles Edison to sit close to his father as he took his last breath and placed a test tube near his mouth. The museum notes that Ford was also a man of many eccentricities (like Edison), including an interest in revivalism and spirituality.
At the last moment there were 8 test tubes near the bed
However, some people say that Ford was actually trying to capture Edison’s spirit because he hoped that he would be able to revive Edison. According to Science Alert, there were not one but eight test tubes ‘very close’ to Edison’s bed at the time. While in the words of Charles, ‘Although he is chiefly remembered for his work in electrical fields, his real love was chemistry. It is not strange, but symbolic that the test tube itself was close to them in the end.
That test tube can be seen at the Henry Ford Museum
Shortly after his death, I told the Michigan Museum that I had seen his attending physician, Dr. Hubert S. Howe was asked to seal the final inhalation test tube with paraffin. He did this. Later I gave one of them to Mr. Ford. After his death in 1947, Ford’s estate gave it to the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan, after which the test tube was kept in a box for more than 20 years. That test tube was recovered by staff members in 1978, along with several other items, and has been on display ever since.
There are differences of opinion regarding this incident, Henry Ford was an employee of Edison’s company
According to Science Alert, even though the test tubes are now out of date, many argue that the incident did not happen at all as reported. Mr. Ford was an employee of Mr. Edison’s company where he worked as chief engineer. Ford finally got a chance to approach Edison during an office party and pitch his automobile innovation idea. The two became close friends and spent a lot of time together – often influencing each other’s work.
