The Pakistan team managed to bowl out Australia for 487 runs on the second day of the first Test match. During the first Test match being played in Perth, Pakistan’s bowling attack looked quite lackluster. Without Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf, Pakistan’s bowling attack lacked the edge that the Pakistan team is known for. Pakistan is always in the news for its bowling attack but in the current Test against Australia, Pakistan’s fast bowling unit was struggling to get pace. Former Indian coach Ravi Shastri believes that the lack of pace in the Pakistani attack is putting extra pressure on Shaheen.
During the first Test match against Australia, fast bowler Khurram Shehzad was seen struggling with fitness issues and due to this his speed was around 120. Faheem Ashraf also failed to show anything spectacular and was seen bowling at 130 kmph. Shaheen is facing a lot of pressure with no help from other fast bowlers, which Shastri feels is not the right approach.
Commenting, Ravi Shastri said, “I think Shaheen Afridi’s real problem is the pressure to be the leader of this Pakistani attack. There isn’t much support from the other end when it comes to speed. When you talk about Pakistan and their fast bowling attack, there is always real pace and you don’t have a bowler who can bowl anywhere near 140. That is why there is a lot of pressure on a bowler like Shaheen Afridi.
