Sensex crosses 70,000, Nifty at record high, gains cheer investors

The BSE Sensex rose 102 points to close near 70,000 points on Monday due to buying in bank, IT and metal stocks. The National Stock Exchange’s Nifty also touched close to 21,000 points. Sensex, based on 30 shares, opened with gains in early trade and touched 70,057.83 points during trading. It later closed up 102.93 points or 0.15 percent at 69,928.53 points.

Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 18 were in profit while 11 were in loss. There was no change in one. Fifty-share-based NSE Nifty also touched 21,026.10 points during the trading. Finally, it closed up 27.70 points or 0.13 percent at its all-time high of 20,997.10 points. Among the Sensex stocks, Ultratech Cement was the top gainer at 3.04 percent. Apart from this, shares of Nestlé, Power Grid, Tata Motors, IndusInd Bank, HCL Tech, TCS, Tech Mahindra, NTPC, ITC, JSW Steel and Tata Steel rose.
