In a particularly auspicious trading session on Sunday, major stock indices Sensex and Nifty closed with gains of over half a percent. In the first trading session of Samvat 2080, the 30-share BSE Sensex rose 354.77 points, or 0.55 percent, to close at 65,259.45. The NSE Nifty closed up 100.20 points, or 0.52 percent, at 19,525.55 led by gains in IT, infrastructure and energy stocks. During this period, the investor’s assets amounted to Rs. There has been an increase of more than 2 lakh crores.

For the entire Samvat year 2079 ending Friday, the BSE Sensex gained 5,073.02 points or 8.47 percent, while the Nifty gained 1,694.6 points or 9.55 percent.
During the intersession trading session, Infosys was the top gainer of 1.41 percent. Apart from this, Wipro, Asian Paints, TCS, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries, ITC, Kotak Bank and Asian Paints were the major gainers.
Among the Sensex companies, only Ultratech Cement and Sun Pharma were losers. BSE Midcap gained 0.67 percent and BSE Smallcap gained 1.14 percent.
Indicative trading session was organized between 6 pm to 7.15 pm. This session also marks the beginning of a new era. Trade at ‘muhurta’ or auspicious times is believed to bring prosperity to the stakeholders. The Hindu calendar year begins with Diwali, which is called Samvat.
Market analysts say that Diwali is considered an ideal time to start anything new. It is said that investors make profits throughout the year by trading during this session.
Stock markets will be closed on 14th November for Diwali Balipratipada.
