New Delhi. There have been many changes in Pakistan’s team since its exit from the World Cup. Captain Babar Azam has resigned from the captaincy. After which the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced separate captains for the Test and T20 formats. Shan Masood has been named the captain of the Test team while fast bowler Shaheen Afridi has been given the T20 captaincy. Meanwhile, Pakistan legend Shahid Afridi has said that the Prime Minister asked me about the captaincy but I never talked about giving the captaincy to Shahin.
Speaking on Sama TV, Shahid Afridi said, “I think there was no need to change for a few days. But the Prime Minister was discussing the captaincy with me. I told him that the Test cricket captaincy should remain with Babar. If Pakistan is looking for a new captain for white ball cricket then they should make Mohammad Rizwan. I have said this many times before. Because he has captained for Multan Sultans.

Shaheen did not want to be captain
Shahid Afridi further said, “I never said anything about making Shaheen captain. Because I am away from such decisions. Because if I had recommended Shaheen as the captain, people would have told me that I was favoring him. Because he is my relative (son-in-law). I was never in favor of making Shaheen captain.
However, now Shaheen Afridi has got the command of the T20 team. Now he will be seen leading Pakistan team in T20 matches. The T20 World Cup 2024 is 7 months away and Shaheen will definitely be eyeing it. Last year in 2022, Pakistan team reached the final of T20 World Cup. But they had to face defeat against England.
