The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Tuesday approved the reappointment of Shashidhar Jagadeesan as MD and CEO of HDFC Bank. After this decision, Shashidhar Jagdishan will be the MD and CEO of the bank till the year 2026. A Chartered Accountant by profession, Jagdeesan has over 31 years of experience. Shashidhar Jagadish has a Master’s degree in Economics of Money and Banking and Finance from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom. He became Business Head-Finance in 1999 and was appointed Chief Financial Officer in 2008.
A major contribution to the development of the bank
He led the finance function with a key role in the growth of the bank, the bank said in a press release. Prior to his appointment as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Bank, he was Group Head of the Bank besides overseeing Finance, Human Resources, Legal and Secretarial, Administration, Infrastructure, Corporate Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility functions.
The merger took place last year
Recently in the month of July, HDFC Corp merged with HDFC Bank, the country’s largest private lender. In the biggest merger in India’s corporate history announced last April, HDFC Bank agreed to acquire HDFC in a deal worth around $40 billion.
