Virat Kohli: Alexander of batting in World Cup 2023

Team India’s campaign in the World Cup 2023, which ended on Sunday, ended with ten consecutive wins in ten matches, crushing all before the finals to reach the finals like Alexander the Great. No team could beat this Alexander-like campaign in a single match until the semi-finals, but when the last wall of the border had to be conquered, Alexander stopped at the Indian border. However, in terms of performances leading up to the final victory, former captains Virat Kohli and Mohammed Shami emerged as the performance leaders in their respective departments.

Along with scoring the most runs in the World Cup held in India, in-form star batsman Virat Kohli has also become the highest run-scorer in a single tournament in the history of the World Cup. Kohli scored 765 runs in 11 matches at an average of 95.62 in World Cup 2023, which is a world record. He scored three centuries and six fifties. However, he failed to make India champions once again. As for Kohli, he broke the record of ideal and great batsman Sachin Tendulkar who was the highest scorer in the 2003 World Cup with 673 runs. However, India also lost to Australia in the 2003 World Cup final.
Shami is the Alexander of bowling!
While Mohammad Shami was out of the first four matches, he was the bowling Alexander of the tournament. Shami was the ace of bowling with 24 wickets in just seven matches. He is followed by Australia’s Adam Zampa (23 wickets). Despite being ruled out of India’s first four matches, Shami was the tournament’s most successful bowler, taking 24 wickets in seven matches at an impressive average of 10.70. He took five or more wickets in an innings three times in the tournament. His best performance was a seven-wicket haul of 57 runs against New Zealand in the semi-final, which is also the best performance by an Indian bowler in the One-Day International format. Sri Lanka’s Dilshan Madushanka (21 wickets), India’s Jasprit Bumrah (20 wickets) and South Africa’s Gerald Coetzee (20 wickets) were also among the top five bowlers.
Rohit’s number was second
Indian captain Rohit Sharma finished second in the list of highest run-scorers with 597 runs in 11 matches at an average of 54.27 with one century and three half-centuries. After Kohli and Rohit, South Africa’s Quinton de Kock (594 runs) and New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra (578 runs) and Daryl Mitchell (552 runs) are among the top five batsmen. The most successful batsman to win the title for Australia was David Warner, who was sixth on the list with 535 points.
