There has been a high rise in the stock market during the tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Despite crises like global financial crisis, demonetisation, PNB scam and covid pandemic, the Indian stock market has been making history after history. Sensex crossed 71000 for the first time today. The Sensex has risen over 116 percent during the nearly 9 and a half years of the Modi government. The Sensex recorded a bumper gain of 48590 points between 2014 and 2023.
Sensex opened at 22493 in May 2014 and Narendra Modi was sworn in as Prime Minister in the same month. In May 2014 itself, the Sensex managed to close at the level of 27499. During this period it even reached the level of 19963 once. According to the data provided on BSE, the Sensex started 2014 at the level of 21222. This year it also saw a high of 28822 and a low of 19963, but it closed at 27499. Sensex recorded a total jump of 6277 points in one year.

2015 brought disappointment to the market: The year 2015 was not good for the market. The Sensex opened at 27485 and fell to a low of 22494 after touching a high of 30024 this year. Finally closed at 26117 with a decrease of 1368 points. The year 2016 was also sluggish. Sensex could rise only 524 points. This year it opened at 26101 and closed at 26526. The highest level of Sensex during this period was 29077.
Bounce back in 2017: Sensex gained 7345 points in 2017. Sensex has closed this year at 34056 after starting at 26711 and touching a high of 34137. The year 2018 was also good. Sensex opened at 34059 and closed at 36068. During this period it registered an increase of 2008 points.
Bumper jump from 2019 to 2021: As soon as the Modi government came back to power, the market started to rise. The Sensex registered a massive jump of 5091 points in 2019, 6401 points in 2020 and 10468 points in 2021. There was also a plague of Corona for two years. In the year 2019, Sensex crossed 40000 and reached a peak of 41809. The year 2020 saw an all-time high of 47896 and in 2021, Sensex did wonders. Breaking all records, he sat at the highest peak of 62245.
How 2022 and 2023 fared: According to data provided on BSE, the Sensex opened 2022 at 58310 and ended the year at 60840 with a gain of 2530 points. The year 2023 has started at 60871 level and still 15 days to go, but Sensex seems to be in a mood to break every record. So far this year (compared to the all-time high of 71084 on December 15), it has registered an increase of 10212 points.
