Stock market today: The Indian stock market opened today i.e. 1st July with a green signal. Both the benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty opened marginally higher. The benchmark Sensex opened above 79,000, while the Nifty 50 also touched close to 24,000.
Sensex rose 69.63 points to 79,102.36 points in early trade today. At the same time, the Nifty was trading at 24,048.45 points, up 37.85 points.
However, the banking sector i.e. Nifty Bank is trading lower today. Shares of smallcap and midcap companies are also trading in a limited range. The Nifty Midcap 100 index was up 94 points or 0.17 per cent at 55,831 points and the Nifty Smallcap 100 index was up 112 points or 0.61 per cent at 18,430 points.
On a sectoral basis, indices of auto, IT, pharma and metal sectors have been strong. At the same time, PSU banks, realty and financial services indices are under pressure.
