Stocks rally for third straight day, Sensex surges 471 points in early trade

New Delhi:

The Indian stock market continued to rally for the third consecutive session on Monday amid positive trends in global markets. Today, the 30-share BSE Sensex rose 471.45 points to 64,835.23 in early trade. At the same time, the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty rose 126.75 points to 19,357.35.

The BSE closed up 282.88 points or 0.44 per cent at 64,363.78 points on the last trading day of last week on Friday, while the Nifty ended up 97.35 points or 0.51 per cent at 19,230.60 points.

Among the Sensex companies, Larsen & Toubro, Axis Bank, Nestlé, JSW Steel, IndusInd Bank and Mahindra & Mahindra were the major gainers. Shares of State Bank of India (SBI) and Tata Motors remained in losses.

In the Asian markets, Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai and Hong Kong were profitable. Along with this, the American markets closed with a positive trend on Friday.

Global oil standard Brent crude was trading at $85.20 per barrel, up 0.37 percent.Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) on Friday added Rs. 12.43 crore shares were sold.
