Street vendors became Delhi Police’s ‘helping hands’ during the G-20 Summit

Delhi Police and security forces have made a special contribution in making the G-20 Summit held at Pragati Maidan in Delhi a success. Thanks to months of preparations and practice by the Delhi Police, the global convention was completed in peace and harmony. For this grand event, there is a class of people in Delhi, who, without uniform, rendered their selfless services for the honor of the country. These people are called street vendors in the society.

All effective means were used by the Delhi Police to secure the G-20. Interestingly, street vendors in the Kamala Market Police Station area came in support of the police following the shortage of police force. Kamala Market Police got full cooperation from all the street vendors coming under its eyes and ears scheme.

New Delhi Railway Station is the busiest railway station in India. From Ajmeri Gate, this station has a daily traffic of 5 lakh passengers. Most of the crowd and vehicles are concentrated towards this. It was very difficult to monitor them due to lack of police force. In such a situation, the police got the full cooperation of the street vendors. These people patrolled the station area daily for a week wearing jackets along with the police.

During the last three days of the summit, he personally guarded all railway stations and metro gates towards Ajmeri Gate. These street vendors kept a close watch on anti-social elements and anti-national activities during the summit.

Mohammad Mustaqeem, who parked his car in front of the station, said, “It is a matter of honor for the country, people who look down on the country should not do wrong, so we did our duty like the police.”

These street vendors who have become the eyes and ears of the police without any uniform or desire have contributed their small but important contribution in making this summit a success.
