New Delhi. As important as the hero is to the film, it is difficult for the makers to imagine that the film can be completed without the villain. As much as the film’s lead actors get love, the villains get the same amount of slurs. A villain who changed his real name on Sanjay Dutt’s request and became a popular villain through his roles on screen under his new name.
The actor wanted to join the Air Force and serve the country, but on the advice of a friend, he moved to Mumbai and decided to pursue acting. When the parents saw the film, they clearly said – ‘You get out of my house…’. Not only this, the relatives also turned away. Who was this actor, whom people were afraid to see on screen? Let us tell you…
Why were you out of Air Force training?
The actor we are talking about is Gopal Bedi… known today as Ranjit. Ranjit wanted to work in Air Force. But while undergoing training at the National Defense Academy, something happened to him that changed his life. It actually happened that during the training he fell in love with the trainer’s daughter. Like any normal father, the trainer did not like this at all and the matter escalated to such an extent that Ranjit was thrown out.
Entry was made with the help of Sunil Dutt
Ranjith had no work anymore so a friend of his advised him to act in films. Ranjith also started trying his luck to get a role in the film industry. When Ranjith was trying to establish his roots in Bollywood and was looking for work, he met Sunil Dutt at a party. Sunil Dutt gave him an opportunity to work in the film ‘Reshma Aur Shera’. Ranjith played the role of a brother in the first film. This is how Ranjith entered Bollywood.
Ranjit’s real name is Gopal Bedi.
The first film was incomplete
Ranjith, who came to Mumbai with the dream of becoming a hero, was offered his first film ‘Zindagi Ki Raheen’, but the film never materialised. After this he started his career with the film ‘Saavn Bhado’. But the film ‘Sharmili’ proved to be a milestone for him. Ranjit became a dangerous villain and fans started to fear him even in real life.
There was a lot of crying at home after watching the movie
In an interview, Ranjith himself revealed that he once happily took his family to watch his film. He said that when I came back home, I saw crying in the house. All this happened after watching my role in the film. Mother was very angry with my role and told me, ‘This is your job. You do wrong with girls. Get out of the house’. At the same time, Ranjith’s father said, ‘If you want to act in films, play the role of a doctor or an engineer, are you spoiling my name? Get out of my house. However, he then explained to his family that it was just acting. He said I was thrown out of the house for defaming the family name and asked me how my father would face people in Punjab.
People began to think of him as a villain in real life.
Ranjith also once revealed that whenever he went to a party, people looked at him as a villain. Even his relatives distanced themselves from him due to his portrayal of a villain and some even ended their relationship with him.
Ranjit is shy in real life
In fact, Ranjith has scared everyone by playing a villain in reel life. Even in real life, his image became like this. However, Ranjith is completely different in real life. He neither eats non-veg nor drinks alcohol. Apart from this, his nature is also very shy.
