The Indian team defeated the Kangaroo team by 2 wickets in the first match of the 5-match T20 series. Playing first in the match, Australia made a huge score of 208 runs. Josh English played a brilliant innings of 110 runs. In response, Team India achieved the target by losing 8 wickets in 19.5 overs. Suryakumar scored 80 runs in 42 balls while Ishan Kishan scored 59 runs in 39 balls. However, the Indian team lost 3 wickets in the last over. But Rinku Singh kept the team under control from one side. Rinku was unbeaten on 22 runs off 14 balls. The second match of the series will be played in Thiruvananthapuram on November 26.
This was Suryakumar Yadav’s first T20 international match as captain. He became the highest innings player for India on debut as a captain. Surya scored 80 runs in 42 balls at a strike rate of 190. Hit 9 fours and 4 sixes. Earlier, the record of playing the biggest innings in a T20 international debut match was held by KL Rahul. He scored 62 runs against Afghanistan. No other Indian captain has scored a half-century in his debut match.
Dhawan and Sehwag also stayed behind
Shikhar Dhawan scored 46 runs against Sri Lanka in his debut T20 match as captain. Apart from this, Virender Sehwag scored 34, Ajinkya Rahane 33, Virat Kohli 29, Rishabh Pant 29, Suresh Raina 28, Rituraj Gaekwad 25, Hardik Pandya 24 and Rohit Sharma 17. As captain, Jasprit Bumrah and MS Dhoni did not get a chance to bat in the first match.
