Sushmita Sen’s debut film actress left the industry: Mumbai. People often come to try their luck in the film world. But there are certain people who are destined to get the desired fame. There is one such actor who moved to Mumbai from Kolkata thinking that he would do wonders in the industry. He got many opportunities like romancing Sushmita Sen, sometimes appearing on screen with Aishwarya Rai and sometimes clashing with Shah Rukh Khan. But after years of being seen with every big star in the industry, the star could not get what he came to Mumbai to get. But then a miracle happened which changed the world of this actor.

We are talking about actor Sharad Kapoor, the lead hero of Sushmita Sen’s debut film ‘Dastak’, who has been active in the industry for years. He continues to appear in Hindi and Bengali films. Sharad hails from Kolkata, so he has worked a lot in Bengali films as well. Sharad wanted to be an actor since childhood and after growing up came to Mumbai to fulfill this wish and become an actor. When he came to Mumbai, he had to struggle a lot. Finally, in the year 1995, he got an opportunity to act in the serial ‘Swabhiman’ which aired on Doordarshan. This serial did not make much difference in his career as he did not get many offers. But the role caught the attention of director Mahesh Bhatt.

Mahesh Bhatt recognized his talent
Mahesh Bhatt was very impressed with Sharad’s personality and finally gave him what Sharad was looking for. Mahesh Bhatt offered him the film and that too as the lead hero. Sushmita Sen Sharad was the heroine in this film. This film was Sushmita Sen’s debut film. The name of the film was ‘Dastak’. By this Sharad felt that now he will be launched as a hero and will have a queue of offers in front of him. But this did not happen.

A passionate fight with Shah Rukh
‘Dastak’ was not a big hit and even after becoming the lead hero in this film, Sharad got only side roles. After this another big film came in his kitty. The film was Shahrukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai and Chandrachud Singh starrer ‘Josh’. Sharad’s role in this film starring such big stars was very different, but still he got side roles. After doing side roles in many films, Sharad finally decided to bid farewell to the industry, giving up his dream of becoming a hero in films. Despite playing many roles in Hindi cinema and being a part of many big films, Sharad could not achieve the position he wanted. All this left Sharad very disappointed and the actor left Mumbai and returned to Kolkata. Sharad got a lot of work in films, but he didn’t get the success he wanted when he moved to Mumbai.

Success came after leaving the industry
Sharad said goodbye to the industry and came to Kolkata. Sharad still wanted to do something in his life that would prove to be a hit. After thinking for a few months, Sharad decided to go into business with his brothers. He opened a restaurant in Kolkata and it was successful. What happened next, Sharad was inspired and over the next few years, after Kolkata, he opened a few restaurants in Bengaluru and then Mumbai as well. All these restaurants of his failed. His Mumbai restaurant is called Destination – Beyond the Great Wall while he has a restaurant in Bengaluru called Tangerine One. Sharad is now very happy with his family and is a successful businessman. However, he takes up acting offers if he wants to.
