The tournament held in the year 2021 and 2022 was played in a different format. But this time the tournament will be played in a different format. The tournament to be held in 2024 will have two stages before the knockouts. All 20 teams will be divided into four groups first. Two teams each from these four groups will qualify for Super-8. The teams that qualify for the Super-8 will then be divided into two groups. While in the Super-8, the top two teams in both the groups will qualify for the semi-finals.
How did any team qualify?
West Indies and USA have secured the first two spots for the T20 World Cup 2024 as hosts. After this, Australia, England, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh have qualified for the 2022 edition by performing and ICC T20 ranking cut-off on 14 November.

After this, Namibia and Uganda from Africa, Canada from America, Nepal and Oman from Asia, Papua New Guinea from East Asia Pacific and Ireland and Scotland from Europe have qualified through regional qualifiers.
