Under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act (RTE) 2009, poor children studying in private schools in the district have lost Rs 2.48 crore to the government exchequer. Apart from paying the fees of the underprivileged children, the state government gives them Rs. 5,000 gives. Parents and children are troubled because of not getting this amount for three years.
There are 2697 children in the district who have taken admission in the session from 2021-22 to 2023-24, who could not get the assistance of Rs 5,000 each. 710 children taking admission in 2021-22 did not get the amount for three academic sessions. 1.06 crore rupees due in three years on this account. 847 children admitted in the year 2022-23 will have Rs. 84.70 lakhs in arrears and on 1140 children admitted in the current session Rs. 57 lakhs is outstanding. Accordingly for three years a total of Rs. 2.48 crore is yet to be received. BSA Praveen Kumar Tiwari says that demand letter is being sent for payment of children.
Uniform book amount more than fee
Instead of making poor children study in private schools in class-1 and pre-primary classes, the government is paying the same fees for uniforms and copy-books etc. The fee is Rs 450 per month for a maximum of 11 months or minimum school fees. In this regard, as fee a maximum of Rs. 4950 is given, while for uniform and copy-book Rs. 5000 is given.
Poor children across the state receive money for uniforms and books.
Let us tell you that the Uttar Pradesh government gives about Rs 5,000 per student per year for books and uniforms to EWS category students studying in private schools. Also, the government bears all the expenses of the government schools. Along with this, students in government schools also get facilities like mid-day meal regularly.
