New Delhi. Every actor in Bollywood has their own fan following. Due to this fan following, sometimes the ego of the actors gets inflated a lot, but you have rarely heard that the release of the film is delayed due to the ego of the two actors working in the film. Today we are going to tell the story of one such film, in which two superhit actors of their time were working.
The two veteran stars’ previous film had also become a superhit and due to this, their egos had come face to face when a director signed them both. The two then became upset that their names should appear first in the film’s credits. The release date of the film was postponed several times in this battle of ‘First I…First I…’. However, later the director came up with a solution to this problem, which you will be shocked to hear. Let us tell you some amazing things about this Bollywood movie.
This film was released in the 80s
Director Raj N Sippy decided to make a film in the 80s, with two heroes and one heroine. None other than Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor have been signed for the film. This was the first film of Jackie and Anil in which both were working together for the first time. However, there was only one heroine in this film, which was Munmun Sen. The film was called ‘Andar-Bahar’.

Director Raj N Sippy produced this 2 hours 18 minutes long film in the 80s.
A clash of egos between two stars
The film was ready and now it was the turn of the film credits. The director showed Jackie Shroff’s name first in the film credits. Anil Kapoor then got angry at this and demanded to reveal his name first. Actually, before this film, Jackie Shroff’s film ‘Hero’ was a super hit. In such a situation, the director wanted to give him more mileage, but Anil Kapoor’s film ‘Wo 7 Din’ was also a hit.
When the matter reached Subhash Ghai
Amid this battle, director Raj N Sippy decided that he would only focus on Jackie Shroff. When Raj told Subhashbhai about this, Subhash also asked to name Jackie first. He also reasoned behind it that Jackie Shroff was the hero in Jackie Shroff’s film ‘Hero’. That’s not all, Raj and Sippy’s film had the heroine opposite Jackie Shroff while Anil Kapoor was alone. When the matter between Jackie and Anil was not resolved, Subhash Ghai thought of a different solution.
IMBD has given a rating of 5.4 out of 10.
While the release date was delayed due to ‘Pehel Mein…Pehel Mein…’.
According to media reports, Subhash Ghai suggested that both the heroes’ names should be shown together in the same frame in the credits. Anil Kapoor agreed to this but Jackie Shroff was not ready to accept it. Jackie was very happy with the success of his film Hero and did not want to share his success with anyone. Due to this, the release date of the film ‘Pehle Mein…Pehle Mein…’ was advanced by 8 months. However, after this Raj N Sippy convinced Jackie Shroff to share his name in the same frame. After this, the distributor objected to both their names appearing in the same frame and Anil Kapoor was almost disappeared from the film’s poster and credits.
The angry director took a strange step
Both Anil Kapoor and Raj N Sippy were angered by such decision of the distributor. After this the director did something you would never imagine. A few days before the film’s release, director Raj N Sippy removed the names of both Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor from the credits.
How was the film?
This movie released in the year 1984 was average. IMBD has rated this 2 hour 18 minute comedy-thriller film 5.4 out of 10. The film did a business of around 1 crore 70 lakh rupees. Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff’s first film together didn’t make it to the hit-superhit list, but the ‘Mein… Pahle Mein…’ controversy between the two remained a hotly debated topic.
