A 20-year-old Israel Border Police officer died on Monday after being critically injured in a knife attack in Jerusalem. He was stabbed by a 16-year-old Palestinian boy from East Jerusalem, who was later shot dead. Meanwhile, another officer was also injured. Elisheva Rose Ida Lubin of Georgia was targeted while patrolling the Old City of Jerusalem, according to a Wall Street Journal report. He later died of severe injuries sustained during the attack.
According to the Atlanta Jewish Times, she was from Dunwoody, a northern suburb of Atlanta, and immigrated to Israel from the United States in 2021. In the year 2022, she joined the Israel Border Police as part of her military duty. She lived in Israel without her family. Israel’s military is on a mission to destroy the Palestinian Hamas group responsible for the October 7 terror attacks. Overnight, 28 wanted individuals were arrested, 11 of whom had alleged ties to Hamas.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) also destroyed a weapons warehouse containing gas cylinders and materials for making explosives. “Tonight, security forces mapped the home of a terrorist who carried out a stabbing attack in Jerusalem,” the IDF wrote on Twitter. “During the activity, the suspects threw rocks and Molotov cocktails, who responded.” A Hamas attack on October 7 killed at least 1,400 Israelis. Israel’s retaliatory airstrikes have so far killed more than 10,000 people on the Palestinian side, including a large number of women and children, according to Gaza’s health ministry.
