A Congress leader was killed by a group of six near Srinivasapura in Karnataka

According to the police, the reason for the murder was not immediately known.

A Congress leader was allegedly hacked to death with a sharp weapon by a group of six people near Srinivaspura in the state’s Kolar district on Monday. Police sources gave this information. According to the police, the incident took place when former Kolar district panchayat president Srinivas went to inspect an under-construction bar.

Police sources said Srinivas (62) was taken to a private hospital, where he died. The reason for the killing was not immediately known.

Srinivasa was considered close to Home Minister G Parameshwara and former Karnataka Assembly Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar. Both Parameshwar and Kumar went to the hospital and met Srinivasa’s family.

The police have registered a case and several teams have been formed to nab the culprits.
