New Delhi. This year, the Pakistan Cricket Board faced difficulties in organizing the Asia Cup before the ICC ODI World Cup. BCCI had directly refused to send its team to Pakistan. Due to persistent insistence of Team India, Pakistan lost the hosting of the entire Asia Cup. Now a similar situation is being seen before the Champions Trophy to be held in 2025. PCB has prepared to collect money from ICC if Team India does not come.
Ahead of the ICC ODI World Cup in India, there was a lot of fuss about the Asia Cup. The Pakistan Cricket Board tried its best but the BCCI did not change its decision not to send the Indian team to play there. The Asian Cricket Council decided to host 9 matches to Sri Lanka and main host Pakistan got only 4 matches. Ahead of the Champions Trophy, the PCB has expressed its concerns and fears an Asia Cup-like situation.
Threat on hosting the Champions Trophy!
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah confirmed last year that the Indian team will not play any matches in Pakistan. Before the Asia Cup, the PCB had even threatened to boycott the ICC World Cup to be held in India but to no avail. Now, before the Champions Trophy, PCB has said that if India does not come and play there, it will take compensation from the ICC. Apart from India, Bangladesh and Afghanistan also refused to play in Pakistan in the Asia Cup. Something similar can be seen even before the Champions Trophy.
Where can Champions Trophy be held?
India will not go to Pakistan to play Champions Trophy under any circumstances. In such a situation, it can be considered to hold this ICC tournament in Dubai and UAE. Like the ACC, the ICC can also organize the Indian team’s matches away and Pakistan’s matches at its home. Even in such a situation, PCB will have to lose big matches.
