According to the Times of India news, a part of the outer wall of the stadium collapsed after colliding with an earth moving machine. However, Cricket Association of Bengal officials said that the accident occurred during repair work and efforts were being made to repair the damaged area as soon as possible. The section of wall that collapsed is between Gates 3 and 4 and is close to one of the stadium’s floodlight towers.
