These days, India and Canada have come face to face over the killing of Khalistan terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Canadian PM has expressed apprehension of Indian agents’ involvement in Nijjar’s murder. After which the relations between the two countries have soured. Meanwhile, famous Canadian singer-rapper Shubneet Singh aka Shubh has canceled his concert Still Rollin’ India tour scheduled to be held in India. He has given this information by issuing a statement on his social media account.
Expressing his disappointment, Shubh shared a statement on his Instagram account saying, ‘As a young rapper-singer hailing from Punjab, India, it was my lifelong dream to present my music on the international stage, but due to recent events. My hard work was affected. I am extremely disappointed with the cancellation of my tour to India. I was very excited to perform in front of my people in my country. Preparations were in full swing and I had been practicing with all my heart for the past two months, but I think fate had something else planned.
He further wrote in his statement, ‘India is my country too. I was born here. This is the land of my Gurus and my forefathers, who did not even blink an eye to sacrifice for the freedom of this land, for its dignity, for their families. Punjab is my soul, Punjab is in my blood. Whatever I am today, I am because of Punjabi. Punjabis need not prove their patriotism. At every turn of history, Punjabis have sacrificed their lives for the freedom of this country. So, it is my humble request that you avoid labeling every Punjabi as separatist or anti-national.
Shubh wrote in his statement, ‘My intention in re-sharing that post was only to pray for Punjab as there were reports of power and internet outages across the state. There was no ulterior motive behind it and I certainly did not intend to hurt anyone’s feelings. The allegations against me have affected me deeply. But as my guru taught me ‘manas ki jaat soubhai ekai pahijanibo (all human beings are considered equal)’ and taught me not to fear, not to fear, that is the root of Punjabiness. I will continue to work hard. My team and I will be back soon, bigger and stronger. May Waheguru bless you.’
