There are many misconceptions people have about Karan Johar. Karan gets worried trying to clear these misconceptions. Indeed, he is currently busy promoting his action thriller film ‘Kill’. He co-produced the film with Oscar winner Guneet Monga. The film recently premiered at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). When asked after the premiere how he came to be a part of such a serious film, he said, ‘I don’t just do family films’.

After the premiere of ‘Kill’, Karan Johar was asked why he did a project like ‘Kill’ with Oscar winner Guneet Monga, a project so different from the films made by his production house? Karan Johar then said, “I took up this project to break this perception. People think that I make family films or films only for the rich. Even today people ask me, ‘Oh, you only make family films.’ is.’ Make movies?’ , ‘You only make NRI-friendly films…?’, ‘You make films for rich people?’ This is too bad.”

Citing the example of filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, he said, “I am ruined because of this perception. If my name was Karan Kashyap, I would have done much better. It seems that I am ruined because of my own name. ” Let us tell you that Anurag Kashyap is known for making dark and serious films, including Black Friday, Dev D, Gangs of Wasseypur and Ugly. Interestingly, Karan Johar also acted as the villain in Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet (2013).
