Bilateral cricket relations between India and Pakistan have been derailed for a long time. No bilateral series has been organized between the two in the last ten years. India and Pakistan last played a series against each other in 2013. Recently India and Pakistan faced each other twice in Asia Cup 2023. But after the martyrdom of a colonel, a major and a deputy superintendent of police in an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir a few days ago, there is a demand that cricket should not be played with Pakistan at all. Amidst this demand, Indian Sports Minister Anurag Thakur has made a big statement.

Let us tell you that now India and Pakistan face each other only in multinational tournaments. In such a situation, the sports minister says that bilateral cricket relations with Pakistan will not be restored until cross-border terrorism ends. He said that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had taken this decision long ago. “As far as sports are concerned, the BCCI had long ago decided that bilateral matches with Pakistan will not take place until they stop infiltration and cross-border terrorism,” Thakur said on Friday. I think this is the feeling of every common citizen of this country.

Team India led by Rohit Sharma is currently playing the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka. India has reached the final. With this, Pakistan is out of the tournament. The group stage match between India and Pakistan was washed out due to rain. After this, India defeated Pakistan by 228 runs in the Super-Four encounter. It is worth mentioning that Pakistan is the official host of the Asia Cup. After India refused to play in Pakistan for security reasons, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) adopted a hybrid model and Sri Lanka were made co-hosts. Four matches were held in Pakistan while 9 matches including the final were decided to be held in Sri Lanka.
