New Delhi. On the morning of November 4, there was bad news for Team India. In fact, Hardik Pandya, who was among the best all-rounders of Team India, was out of the World Cup. This is undoubtedly the biggest setback for Team India. Can this be considered as a danger bell for Team India? Because something similar happened 4 years ago which had a big impact on team India’s batting and the Indian team could not win the world cup.
Actually we are talking about 2019 World Cup. Something similar happened when Shikhar Dhawan was out of the World Cup due to a thumb injury and Hardik Pandya was out of the World Cup 2023. Shikhar Dhawan’s exclusion from the 2019 World Cup led to the entry of a young wicketkeeper in Team India. However, KL Rahul was opening. KL Rahul was doing well as an opener. Even when batting at number four, he performed brilliantly. Rahul scored 361 runs in 9 matches in the tournament.
Rishabh Pant was included
After Shikhar Dhawan’s exit, BCCI gave Rishabh Pant a chance in the team. But Pant’s effort did not prove to be very effective for the team. Pant scored only 168 runs in 4 matches. The highest score was 48. In the semi-final match, Rishabh Pant was dismissed after scoring 32 runs.
Dhawan scored 125 runs in 2 matches
India played the first match of the 2019 World Cup against South Africa. In that match, Dhawan got out after scoring 8 runs in 12 balls. Rohit Sharma scored a century. Based on which, Team India won the match by 6 wickets. India played the next match against Australia. In which Shikhar Dhawan played a century innings of 117 runs. After this, Dhawan could not play a single match for India and was out of the tournament. India lost to New Zealand in the semi-final.
India has lost the trophy before due to exclusion of players.
1. Bumrah and Jadeja ruled out of 2022 T20 World Cup. (India lost semi-final)
2. Bumrah, Pant and Iyer were eliminated in the 2023 WTC final. (India lost in the final)
