Recruitment of 69,000 teachers: The Allahabad High Court on November 28 has summoned Basic Education Council Secretary Pratap Singh Baghel and Secretary Examinations Officer Anil Bhushan Chaturvedi for not complying with the order to award one mark for a wrong question in the recruitment of 69,000 assistant teachers. The court has asked the two officers why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against them for disobeying the order.
The court also said that before the next hearing, the two officials should sit together and find a solution and come up with a concrete action plan to comply with the order to award a mark. Justice Rohit Ranjan Aggarwal passed the order on Upendra Kumar Dayal’s contempt petition after hearing advocates Anurag Tripathi and Rahul Kumar Mishra and lawyers for both the officers. The court said both the officers filed affidavits and accused each other of disobeying orders. While the Supreme Court has also upheld the order of awarding one mark. However, there seems no way to comply with the order. Officials are busy accusing each other.
As per the facts of the case, on the basis of wrong answer to a question in Assistant Teacher recruitment, the court ordered to declare the result by giving one mark to the candidates who solved it. It was also said that this will not affect pre-selected candidates. The government approached the Supreme Court in this matter but got no relief. This contempt petition has been filed for non-compliance of the order. Even after one year the order has not been complied with. An affidavit was filed by the officers on Thursday but the court was not satisfied with it and said that the lawyers of both the officers were accusing each other. Advocate Anurag Tripathi said that both the officers are shirking their responsibility by imposing the responsibility on each other while there is no legal hurdle in making the appointment as the Supreme Court has ordered the numbering. Although the state government lost before the Supreme Court, the order to award one mark to the petitioners has not yet been complied with. On August 25, 2021, the court directed the two judges of the high court to appear before the two officials in person to explain their non-compliance with the division bench order. The next hearing of the case will be on November 28.
