After Sri Lanka’s defeat, there is another bad news for Pakistan
Babar Azam gave an update on the fitness of the injured player
New Delhi. Pakistan team could not reach the final of the Asia Cup. Sri Lanka defeated Babar Azam’s army by 2 wickets in the Super-4 round match. After this defeat, the Pakistan team has suffered another setback. Fast bowler Naseem Shah, who did not play against Sri Lanka due to injury, may not play in the opening matches of the World Cup.
Babar Azam has expressed fears that Naseem Shah may not recover in time to feature in Pakistan’s opening matches at the World Cup. Although the PCB has not announced a timeline for Naseem’s recovery from his right shoulder injury, Babar is not sure if Naseem will be fit for the tournament, which starts next month. However, regarding Haris Rauf, Babar is confident that he will be fit for the World Cup.
After the defeat against Sri Lanka, Babar Azam was asked if Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf are not fit for the World Cup, do you have a backup plan. On that the Pakistan captain said, “I will tell you later. Currently, I can’t say anything about my plan B. But, Haris Rauf’s injury is not that serious. He has some tension and will recover before the World Cup. Naseem Shah is also recovering from an injury but may miss a few matches. I don’t know how long it will take him to recover but I think Naseem will be with us in the World Cup. Let’s see what happens.”
PCB has not given any update on Naseem’s injury
The PCB is yet to say how serious Naseem’s injury is. He is currently undergoing a scan in Dubai on a muscle injury under his right shoulder. Naseem suffered this injury while bowling in the death overs in the match against India. He walked off the field in the middle of the over and was later ruled out of the Asia Cup. Rauf also did not bowl on the reserve day against India as he too was injured. Due to this, Pakistan decided not to bowl him as the World Cup approaches.
