After the defeat in the final of the World Cup 2023, the Board of Control for Cricket in India i.e. BCCI has decided to make a plan for the next four years. For this BCCI is going to meet with Team India captain Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar. During this time it will be decided what is the future of Rohit Sharma in white ball cricket and who will be the future captain of Team India. Rohit Sharma has not been a part of the T20 international cricket team for the last one year and if reports are to be believed, he has made it clear to the selectors that he is not disappointed about not being picked in the squad.

Team India is scheduled to play three ODIs in South Africa before the two-Test series next month. One-day cricket can be a good opportunity for Test players to get acclimatised to South African conditions. Sources said that the board and selectors will prepare a plan for ODIs only after the upcoming IPL and T20 World Cup. Another big challenge for the board is to groom a long-term captain.
The source claimed, “So far it looks like Rohit will focus much of his energy on the Test format for the next cycle of the World Test Championship, which will run until 2025. Preparing the captain for the longer format is an important part of the agenda. Hardik Pandya The selectors may look for options in ODIs considering the possibility of injury. Just as Chahal and Samson have been overlooked in T20s, Ajinkya Rahane may be dropped after Cheteshwar Pujara in Test cricket.
