New Delhi. At a time when Rohit Sharma-led Team India is in the news for its brilliant performances, fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has achieved a major feat in T20 cricket. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match, ‘Bhuvi’ took five wickets for 16 runs against Karnataka in Dehradun and was instrumental in helping Uttar Pradesh win by 40 runs. With this performance, ‘Sultan of Swing’ Bhuvneshwar has become one of the select bowlers who have achieved the feat of taking five or more wickets five times in T20s.

So far only five bowlers in world cricket have managed to hit five fours five or more times in T20 cricket. The record in this regard is held by David Wiese who has achieved this feat six times. Vees has played international cricket for South Africa and Namibia. Sri Lanka’s Lasith Malinga, Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi, Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan and India’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar are in second place in this regard. These four bowlers have taken five or more wickets in T20 matches five times.

Bhuvi’s achievement is also notable in the sense that no other Indian bowler has taken five or more wickets in T20Is four times. Lukman Meriwala and Ankit Rajput are the only ones to have managed to take five wickets in an innings three times in T20 cricket.

In the UP-Karnataka match, the UP team batted first and scored 196 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs. Abhishek Goswami contributed the most with 77 runs. In reply, Karnataka were bowled out for 156 runs in 18.3 overs thanks to Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s brilliant bowling. Bhuvneshwar took five wickets for 16 runs in a spell of 3.3 overs. Yash Dayal also got two wickets.
